DreamCatchr
Print, Motion & Promotion

A visual identity for a new Opera 'DreamCatchr' by Kevin O’Connell & Lily Ackerman for the Royal Irish Academy of Music and IADT. Jane, who lives with her sister Polly, becomes obsessed with the creation of an app that will catch her dreams. Her constant coding and obsession with the Dreamcatchr app triggers a breakdown in their relationship and a deterioration of her mental state, as she plunges further into her world of dreams. Daily functions of eating and working merge in her cereal bowl. Sound and motion devices playfully exaggerate our disengagment with routine.
I aimed to show the mundane objects in Jane’s life in a surreal way, mixing her dreams and reality, focusing on a core ‘visual pun’ to achieve this. Jane’s obsession with the DreamCatchr app is all-consuming. It has taken over her daily life. She eats, sleeps and breathes her Dreamcatchr app. The Poster puts Jane centre- stage. The viewer experiences Jane’s reality, and is directly engaged in her experience, blurring reality.
